How to feel more comfortable at the dentist....?

Hi! No one likes going to the dentist. Even me. I've been in dentistry for over 20 years. Please tell the dentist that the novacaine makes you very jumpy and nervous. H/She can give you the kind that does not have this side effect to it. ALSO ask about Nitrous Oxide, this too, will help you relax and feel very calm. The other option is to take 1 valium tablet the night before, and 1 before the office visit. Of course you should not drive if you do this. But that is an option many of my patients have asked for. The other, natural remedy that I keep in the office is Rescue Remedy. This is a holistic Bach formula you can buy at the health food store only. Take 4 drops in a small gl of water before, and repeat before procedure. I've had people almost fall asleep after taking that. You can try taking a few drops 1-2 days before to see if it helps you relax. Please call your dental office and explain how nervous and upset you get and let them offer some solutions. I have my patients wear an IPod or younger ones bring a stuffed toy. By the way, I have stuffed toys and ear phones in my office and they are used daily. Some times by adults!~ So please calm down, no one wants you upset, and ask if you can bring a blanket or a pillow for you neck. I have ones that we can heat up on the micro wave and with also helps people relax. Good luck Marie~
