Wrestling valets.Are they needed or not needed in wrestling?

Is not needed like it was during the whole Chyna and HHH,Marc Mero and Sable,Golddust and Marlena?The list of wrestlers from awhile ago used to have valets.Like Macho and Elizabeth,Sunny and Skip,Sherry and Savage,Flair and Woman(rip).
